This is a trend with well-established roots: It’s “goodbye” extreme vintage decors and “hello” to a retro style that revives the ’60s vibe. But colourful retro-pop interiors are taking on a fresh new look, casting aside their traditionally flashy hues in favour of warmer, more elegant tones.
From Paris to Milan, it’s the subject on everyone’s lips.
Nostalgic yet optimistic, the retro style has invaded our interiors from ceiling down to floor. Furnishings have joined the party, too! Foscarini pendant lights, formica tables, curvaceous Verner Panton chairs… Even the oft-maligned wallpaper is enjoying new-found favour with designers!
But retro as we know it, exuding bright, zingy shades punctuated with chrome and aluminium structures, is starting to lose momentum. In 2015, the more customary silvery hues are making way for coppery shades and rose-tinted golds.
Warmer and more welcoming but also more daring than their familiar silver relation, coppery hues are the perfect partner to natural wood, creating interiors that are cosier than ever. Don’t be surprised to see this colour palette popping up in all of London’s hippest lounge bars and restaurants!
